This is a machine which has been produced for 6 decades. It is a lathe, it works, it is accurate, it is simple to operate, it is reliable, it doesn't take up much space. It is a thoroughbred product from an experienced company who are still going to be there in 25 years when you start looking for spare parts.

It shares a lot of features with its bigger more modern brother, the SN710S. If you don't need a big spindle bore or a fast headstock then you should consider one of these and save a lot of money.

The SN55 & SN63 lathes are no longer made. Only the SN71 remains in production. SN55, SN63 & SN71 machines all share a common bed profile, saddle, apron , tailstock & feed gearbox. Only the centre height differs. Therefore the SN71 is a direct & exact equivalent of all the older SN machines. The only spare parts & accessories which are not interchangeable are the steadies.
